Northeast Ridge 2010 |
|             |
Brisbane Friends, San Bruno Mountain Watch is opposed to the proposed housing development on the NE Ridge. We think that the Habitat Conservation Plan for San Bruno Mountain was ill conceived, and has been poorly administered. Precious rare habitat was taken for housing developments, but the various mitigation efforts that were supposed to conserve the remaining habitat have largely failed. Click Here for San Bruno Mountain Expert Opinions on This EIR Addendum The EIR Addendum, based on the HCP and an EIR that is 26 years old, is likewise flawed. The project will likely result in the extinction of the endangered Callippe Silverspot butterfly, due to habitat destruction and fragmentation, and isolation of the remaining butterflies. The homes won’t serve Brisbane’s biggest housing needs, they are not close to public transportation, and they are big energy users. Click Here for Leading Environmental Groups' Opinions on This EIR Addendum Tragically, the city, the county, and the USFWS are currently participating in what we feel is a travesty of the needed environmental review. Please sign the online letter below, or write your own and send it to the Brisbane City council (their contact information is below.) Click Here for just a Few Reasons to Reject This EIR Addendum The next city council meeting, and their vote on the Northeast Ridge Project, is on Tuesday, February 16th, at 7:30, 50 Park Place, in Brisbane. We would like to pack the next meeting. If the council is going to SPEAK FOR THE DEVELOPER, BROOKFIELD HOMES, rather then citizens of Brisbane, California, let them do so in front of us. |
