Throughout the year, we go on hikes around and about the mountain.
Visit our hiking section to find out more.
Weed the Mountain!
Habitat Restoration -- it seems like people who give this work
a try often get hooked. The reasons are many, but they generally have to do
with the sense that we are rekindling a long lost relationship to the land.
Consider joining our efforts on San Bruno Mountain. We are constantly at work
and welcome help anytime, but our regular work dates are on the 3rd Sunday
of each month. Meet at 1pm at our Brisbane Learning Center (see hiking
section for directions). Bring layered work clothes, sturdy shoes, water,
snacks, sun and wind protection, and gloves and clippers if you have them
-- we'll provide them if you don't.
Upcoming 2006 dates are:
July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, December 17.

Adopt San Bruno Mountain
The Endangered Species Education Poject (1989 California legislation)
implemented by the California Department of Education invites each elementary
and junior high school in the State to adopt an endangered species from its
locale, to design projects to educate the community about threats to the endangered
species, and to develop a plan for local community action to preserve the
species habitat. Through community involvement and contact with local decision-makers,
students can realize that individuals like themselves really do have the potential
to influence the fate of natural resources at the local, state and national
level.
We suggest having your school adopt San Bruno Mountain as a project whether it be for the protection and enhancement of the Mission Blue Butterfly or the San Bruno Elfin Butterfly or for the protection of the shellmounds, grasses and plants through the creation of an Ohlone Archeological Preserve.
Help save the resources on San Bruno Mountain for the benefeit of school children from San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, Colma and Brisbane so that they may learn about the first settlers in this area.
