Russ Aguilar, San Bruno Mountain Watch’s Interpretive Specialist, will lead a hike to the Nike Missile radar site on San Bruno Mountain from 10AM to 1PM on Saturday, April 26th

The walk will focus on an early-warning radar and missile-control site on the mountaintop, active beginning in the 1950s, as part of Nike anti-aircraft defense systems.

Help remove invasive broom from the grasslands along the ridge. These stewardship efforts will help protect habitat for the endangered mission blue and callippe silverspot butterflies and encourage an increased abundance of native wildflowers.

Orchard Partners, LLC, the developer of the proposed warehouse and distribution center on San Bruno Mountain within the Guadalupe Quarry is organizing a community open house on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 – 7 PM at 240 Valley Drive in Brisbane.

Colma Creek flows from the peaks of San Bruno Mountain all the way to the San Francisco Bay. Help us revitalize a portion of Colma Creek's shoreline along the Bay Trail. Together we can create a more biodiverse, resilient, and beautiful creek. Join us for a variety of activities including invasive plant removal, trash pick-up, bird watching, water-coloring and other art, storytelling, and more. Free educational booklet provided. All ages!

Help remove invasive weeds like poison hemlock, nightshade, bristly ox-tongue, and pincushion plants from the base of Buckeye Canyon! The canyon was damaged by winter storms that caused landslides and erosion. Controlling the invasive plants that have emerged in these impacted areas will help native plants re-establish.

Russ Aguilar, San Bruno Mountain Watch’s Interpretive Specialist, will lead an amphibian walk in Own Canyon, from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, March 8th!

The walk will focus on the Pacific Chorus Frogs that are currently breeding in the canyon. We will discuss the special adaptations these various species have to survive in the San Bruno Mountain ecosystem. We will also explore a trail to see what other kinds of amphibians we can find. Expect to get muddy!

Join San Bruno Mountain Watch for a walk on the Northeast Ridge of San Bruno Mountain. We’ll gather to look directly into the mountain’s Guadalupe Quarry across the valley.

We will talk about the troubling proposal to develop in the quarry and have chairs and tables set up along with arts and crafts materials for making postcards—if you feel inspired, we hope you’ll write a postcard expressing your vision for the Quarry that can be shared with local elected officials!
