Join the Dune Defenders on the ancient dunes on the west end of San Bruno Mountain! We’ll be removing ice plant and other invasive plants to benefit the endangered San Francisco Lessingia plant and other native dune flora.

Help us collect seeds and berries for the nursery. Each month we’ll focus on and learn about different species and regions of the mountain. We’ll also lead seed cleaning and processing activities after collecting.
Be part of the Colma Creek Collective! Work with San Bruno Mountain Watch to improve the headwaters of Colma Creek. The event will focus on invasive plant removal in an important riparian area for birds.

Russ Aguilar, San Bruno Mountain Watch’s Interpretive Specialist, will lead a guided walk and macrophotography lesson from 1PM to 3PM on Saturday, May 23rd! Russ is a terrific naturalist and expert invertebrate photographer.
If you have a camera with a macro lens, bring it, but if not, you will be able to borrow a clip-on macro lens for your smartphone!
Learn about nature's smallest animals while picking up techniques on how to capture their photos in their native environment.
The hike will be about 2.5 miles on the Dairy Ravine Trail and Summit Loop Trail. The hike included some uphill segments on a gravel and dirt trail.

The hike will be about 2 miles and the group will explore bugs along the route.
On this Earth Day, San Bruno Mountain Watch welcomes you to join ecological restoration fellow Emily Martin in Owl and Buckeye Canyon for a guided walk and reflection session. Emily will lead participants in an exploration of how we can engage in land-based caretaking and revolutionary land-based connections that go beyond a single day on the calendar. How can we hold onto hope considering the uncertainty within these times?
Help remove invasive plants like French broom and bristly ox-tongue from Owl Canyon!
We will be working in a flat area at the base of the canyon.
This event is hosted in partnership with the City of Brisbane and Brisbane’s Open Space & Ecology Committee and in honor of Earth Day!

Learn about the Nike missile silos around the SF Bay Area, including the one on San Bruno Mountain. An early-warning radar and missile-control site was located on the western ridge of San Bruno Mountain, beginning in the 1950s, as part of Nike anti-aircraft defense systems

Russ Aguilar, San Bruno Mountain Watch’s Interpretive Specialist, will lead an amphibian walk in Own Canyon, from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, February 21st!
The walk will focus on the Pacific Chorus Frogs that are breeding in the canyon. We will discuss the special adaptations these various species have to survive in the San Bruno Mountain ecosystem. We will also explore a trail to see what other kinds of amphibians we can find. Expect to get a bit muddy!
Help plant native plants and remove invasive weeds from the grasslands along the ridge. These stewardship efforts will help protect habitat for the endangered mission blue and callippe silverspot butterflies and encourage an increased abundance of native wildflowers.
