Volunteer Programs - Please join in!

San Bruno Mountain Watch's success is based on the efforts of its volunteers, who are involved in all apsects of the organization.  We have a long history as a grass roots organization -- regular people relying on their own efforts to "Save San Bruno Mountain".  We welcome volunteers with open arms and deep appreciation.  After reading these descriptions, please fill out the online volunteer form, or email volunteer@mountainwatch.org, or call 415-467-6631.

The Stewardship Volunteer Program relies on many hands to maintain and restore habitat on the mountain. In addition to work in the field on the mountain, we operate the Mission Blue Native Plant Nursery.

The education program uses volunteers as docents for our regular twice a month hikes.  We are always in need of more docents, and periodically have a docent training program.  Volunteers are also needed for our school education program.

The advocacy program relies on volunteers to monitor and study various civil initiatives in the county and four cities that border the mountain for their effects on the mountain. Volunteers attend and speak up at meetings, sit on committees, and write letters.  When we are involved with legal action, interested volunteers help gather and study legal documents, as needed.

Volunteers for the conservancy program research land parcels and help decide which ones should be targeted for acquisition.  The conservancy committee, all volunteers, meet regularly and perform a variety of task to move this program forward.

Administrative volunteers help with database updating, mailings, and other vital office activities. Website and social media updates are other important activities calling out for volunteer help.

Board members are also volunteers, and our board members work very hard. They must keep track of all the various activities of the organization, and make decisions that facilitate fulfillment of our mission.
