Planting Day - Restore the San Francisco Campion!
Saturday, February 21st, 10am to 1pm
Dear friends from the Kitchen,
San Bruno Mountain Watch looks forward to hosting you for a special planting event. Thank you for helping us plant the San Francisco campion (Silene verecunda), a very rare and beautiful flower!

This is the first planting season for this species—a small population of it was rediscovered on the mountain in 2016 and from a tiny amount of seed collected, we’ve been able to amplify the seeds at our Mission Blue Nursery over many growing seasons. This year we’ve grown nearly 2,000 seedlings to plant back on the mountain!

Please sign up using the form on the right >>>>>>
You will receive a confirmation email once you register with more details and the electronic volunteer agreement form to sign in advance of the event.
We will meet at the Crocker Gate entrance to San Bruno Mountain State and County Park. See the maps below and use the link to navigate.
There is free street parking along Crocker Avenue; please remember to curb your vehicle’s wheels properly as Daly City Police are known to ticket for this.
The project site is about a 20 minute walk from the initial meeting location using the Old Guadalupe Trail and the Saddle Loop; the route is marked with a dotted red line in the trail map below. We will begin to walk over by 10:15am so please arrive on time; otherwise, use the map to find the group. A few portions of the trail have slight elevation gain but much of the route is flat.
Please bring close-toed shoes, sun protection, water, and dress in layers. We will provide all of the necessary tools, gloves, knee-pads, and other materials.
