Come join us on the mountain as we celebrate International Women's Day by participating in a guided hike with ecological restoration fellow Emily Martin.
We will honor the women who spearheaded the movement to save San Bruno Mountain. Bette Higgins and Mimi Whitney were like many women throughout time and place, who did extraordinary things and yet are not as well known or remembered for their hard work to save the place that they loved as others of that time.
They continue to be a source of inspiration and a reminder that even ordinary people can change the world. Join us as we hold space to celebrate and honor women around the world who may not be known by many, and yet whose presence within our lives makes us who we are, and who continue to crack through glass ceilings and transform both the natural and human world around us.
The guided walk on the Summit Loop Trail will showcase the incredible beauty of the San Bruno Mountain as spring approaches and share the stories of women who've had a positive impact on San Bruno Mountain—and the many other women in our lives.
The Hike will take place from 10am to 1pm on Sunday March 8th and will include time for reflections and shared stories. Please make sure that you are dressed in a way that keeps you comfortable for a long hike. Close-toed shoes, dressing in layers, sun protection, water, and snacks are recommended.
The meeting location is at the main parking lot of San Bruno Mountain State and County Park at 555 Guadalupe Canyon Parkway, Brisbane, CA 94005. There is a $6 entry fee.
The walk will be between 2 and 3 miles and the loop will include elevation gain.
RSVP is required. Sign up below to receive directions to the meeting location.
